EDDIE NOVAKOWIZ

Eddie began his journey of rewilding with ancestral skills after landing on Salt Spring Island in 2020. It all started with one of our most basic needs- food. Recognizing the faults and fragility within our food system he sought out to become more empowered, knowledgeable and deeply involved with the various ecosystems and territories he resides in. This centre point in Eddie’s journey facilitates the remembering and relearning of what it means to be a nourished, healthy human. It is being connected to the means and ends of his existence that brings fire to his spirit, striving to reclaim his sovereignty over that which he puts in his body to live. It is one of his greatest joys to facilitate and create spaces where this remembering of what it means to be connected to each other, the land and more than human world can take place. He is an active scavenger, hunter, forager, hide tanner, student and maker. When he is not out on the land he keeps busy with various creative projects from natural materials or teaches workshops with hopes to empower others to participate more in the mysteries and beauty around them. Recently out of a 1 year Wilderness Immersion at Teaching Drum Outdoor School.

Recently out of a 1 year Wilderness Immersion at Teaching Drum Outdoor School. He is now dancing with how to walk the line of the modern pace/world and the old ways in which we all once came from. It is on this path he walks so the old ways may never be lost.
